AAP is under attack from different sides for different reasons. Some of it is political. Rival parties attack each other. Some attacks are for things that happened before the formation of AAP.
Kumar Vishwas is attacked for videos of his jokes and statements he made long before he joined the fight against corruption. One was for a joke about Moharram. Another was about praising Narendra Modi. Third one was about a joke about Kerala nurses. Muslims protested about the joke about Moharram. Kumar Vishwas apologised. Mallika Sarabhai spoke against his praising Narendra Modi. Kumar Vishwas asked who is Mallika Sarabhai? The joke about Kerala nurses led to protests. AAP office in Kerala was damaged by Congress members. Kerala CM Oomen Chandy wrote to Arvind Kejriwal demanding Kumar Vishwas’ apology. Kumar Vishwas replied his joke was poetic licence. He asked will Congress ask Raj Babbar to apologise for rapes in Insaf ka Tarazoo. He said Oomen Chandy should apologise for damage to AAP office. Votaries of freedom of speech and humour are missing.
Somnath Bharti is attacked for ordering police to raid a house at night and treatment of some Ugandan women who were taken for medical tests at night and also the words he used against Arun Jaitley and Harish Salve. Some have demanded his sacking. Most people of Malviya Nagar have supported him and called him a hero. Somnath Bharti said he is acting against prostitution and drug trafficking. Police are not doing their job.
Arvind Kejriwal is attacked for leading protests on 20-21 January. He wanted to sit-in in front of Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s house as Shinde had not agreed to suspend or transfer some police officers. UPA government went overboard to block the sit-in. Four Metro stations were shut. Section 144 was imposed. Arvind Kejriwal sat near Rail Bhavan. There was traffic disruption. The protests lasted around 36 hours. Some said Arvind Kejriwal is an anarchist. While there was vehement criticism against Arvind Kejriwal on TV channels, there were many supporters. On a survey on Headlines Today 78% supported Arvind Kejriwal. AAP should have said UPA is responsible for shut down of Metro stations. AAP wants Delhi police under Delhi government. UPA is not willing. Former Home Secretary Raj Kumar Singh had accused Shinde of corruption and making SHO appointments for money.
Kiran Bedi is with BJP. So her criticism of AAP does not carry conviction. BJP and Congress members who blame AAP for blocking traffic have not opposed such actions by Jats and Gujjars and bandhs by themselves and other parties. When governments call bandhs there is no demand to dismiss those governments.
Some claim they were supporters of AAP but now they oppose AAP methods. Chetan Bhagat said AAP is like item girls who want to attract attention to themselves. Failed actresses become item girls. He was wrong. Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, and Priyanka Chopra have done item numbers and they are not failed actresses.
Some members of AAP may leave. Vinod Kumar Binny is unhappy. He makes statements against party members. His statements resemble BJP statements. It seems he wants AAP to expel him. G. R. Gopinath had joined AAP without going through Vision Document. He is against AAP FDI policy. He wants action against Somnath Bharti. People joining and leaving parties happens. AAP is no exception.
