Duruelo Convent School is in news regarding its policy on uniform. Wearing salwars under skirts is forbidden. Coming to school wearing burkhas and taking them off when entering school compound is forbidden. Some parents are not happy about it. Some are even ready to stop sending their girls to school.
The principal has the right to insist on uniform. If previous principals overlooked aberrations it is not the concern of the present principal.
Those who want their children to go a school wearing burkha can send them to a school run by Muslims. They need not stop educating their girls.
The parents who send their children to an English medium school run by Catholic nuns should not expect the dress code of a madrasa where Arabic is taught.
