Attack on Christians in Karanataka

On 7/9/2008, Sunday, some churches were attacked in Davanagere.

On 14/9/2008, Sunday, some churches were attacked in Mangalore, Udupi and Chickmaglur.

It was the last day of three day BJP national convention in Bangalore.

Christians in Mangalore have been there for centuries.

Attack on churches in the centre of the city was unimaginable.

These events follow the events in Orissa.

Karnataka has a BJP government, so it is free reign for Bajrang Dal, VHP and similar groups.

When Christians protest attacks on churches there is lathi charge and tear gas.

It is time for Christians in Karnataka to shake off complacency and be prepared for any eventuality to defend themselves.

Christians, especially priests, nuns, seminarians and religious brothers, should learn judo, karate and other arts of self-defence.

Central Government did not convey a tough message to Orissa Government and now there is violence in Karnataka.

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil is known for changing his clothes instead of paying attention to the problems.

After Delhi blasts this was clear to all.

One TV channel said he is not Home Minister but Textile Minister.

He reminds me of an emperor who was fond of clothes and was fooled by two people who got lot of money for the non-existent dress and ultimately a child said “The Emperor is naked.” Governments have to function according to the constitution.

If they do not, they have to be dismissed.

In 1992 after the demolition of Babri Mosque, Governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were dismissed for not adhering to the constitution and the dismissal was upheld by the Supreme Court.

Orissa and Karnataka Governments must be dismissed.
